PRESS RELEASE - Announcement September 19, 2009

INTRODUCTION:
Several Oathkeepers who are personally concerned about the state of affairs in our nation and how the Constitution is being ignored and violated, particularly by public officials both elected and appointed, have started a petition drive dedicated to help restore the Constitution to its proper place within our society.

PURPOSE:
The entire effort is non-partisan and applies to all officials, elected or appointed, of whatever political persuasiom, and serves notice on them that ignoring, violating, and not bearing true faith and allegiance to the Constitution these officials swore to protect and defend against all enemies foreign and domestic, marks them as an oathbreaker and someone not fit to serve, and worthy of all legal effort to remove from office. This petition speaks to the clear wording within the Constitution and particularly to the principle of the 10th amendment regarding those powers not specifically defined in the Constitution being reserved to the people or the states.

It is the intent of the authors, Jeff Head, Neil E. Wright, and David Wright, to take the petition, along with its signatures, to Washington DC and deliver them directly to Congress. We hope to gather several hundred thousand signatures at the least, and perhaps several million. We will be working with congressional representatives and senators from several states who are well disposed to this effort to have them jointly craft and sponsor legislation recognizing this effort and presenting it on the floors of the House and Senate when we arrive. We also invite as many signators as possible to meet with us in Washington DC when we deliver the petition and signatures with as much publicity and fan faire as possible.

That is the purpose of the petition.

We also have a sister effort called, The Independent American Movement for Constittuional Restoration. It is not a political party or a PAC. It is a grassroots efforts to take the same principle of the above-mentioned petition, and apply them to candidates seeking office. Our members take an oath to support 12 fundamental constitional principles and vote for those candidates who take the same oath. We feel strongly that if American citizens focus first on fundamental pricniple, and insist that candidates do likewise, then the proper candidates will rise to the top, irrespective of party affiliation, and be voted into office. Like cream rising to the top of fresh milk. If we can grow our numbers large enough, this will force parties and candidates to come to the Constitution and the people, as opposed to individuals being drawn to them, their charisma or celebrity status, their influence, their connections, etc.

LOGISTICS & SIGN UP:
We are conducting the petition effort on our Restore the Consititution site and on Facebook web site. We ask all members of Facebook to read and sign the petition (which you do by simply joining the group there). We ask all who are not on Facebook to sign up with Restore the Constitution effort, where the petition is laso located. This will get their name on the petition, and also provide them another excellent place to interact with fellow patriots in a "committee of correspondence" method to compliment other efforts already in progress such as Tea Party organizations, Oathkeepers, 2nd Amendment organizations, FreeRepublic, etc.

We ask all individuals who have signed the petiton, and any other person interested in restoring the constitution, to go to the above-listed site and join with us to fill congress, our state houses, our city councils and school boards with constittuionally minded individuals who take seriously their oath and understand and commit to the fundamental principles our constitution and nation are founded upon. And then ask all of your family, friends, relatives, and neighbors to join as well, asking them to invite everyone they know to join.

We note...we are not and will not ask for donations, dues, or funds for this effort. We believe that people can best spend their treasure and their time on efforts the choose personally to be involved with. Any event, any effort or rally we conduct, will be funded by the individual members directly involved with those efforts to accomplish the things they volunteer for. It's time we did this ourselves, rather than paying other people to do it for us.

God bless all sincere and faithful efforts to protect and defend our US Constitution, and God grant that we all, in growing numbers, can bear true faith and allegiance to the fundamental republican principles of liberty upon which the Constitution and this Republic were founded.

As God is our witness and strength, may we counter and defeat every effort, every ideology, every foeman, every act, every policy, every initiative, every group, every directive, and every movement that seeks to violate, ignore, wrest, or destroy our Constitution.
